Business & Assets

The Mid South Delta Initiative strengthens businesses and supports entrepreneurs through monetary investment, technical assistance and training. MSDI has invested over $26 million in small and medium-sized businesses-primarily owned by minorities and women-in the past five years. MSDI grantees believe that with technical assistance, practical training and loans for business start-ups, local people will successfully establish and run their own businesses.

The organizations involved in MSDI care about job creation, asset development and higher wages because they know that better jobs, money in the bank and property ownership can lead to satisfying lives.

Since the Initiative began in 1998, because of the work of MSDI:

• 2975 jobs have been created, supported or saved

• 148 new businesses have been created

• 272 small businesses have received technical assistance and professional advice

• 132 business loans have been granted

• 256 Individual Development Accounts opened

• 1051 individuals have attended financial literacy classes
