Housing

In the Mid South Delta Initiative's communities, homes are being built and neighborhoods revitalized. On land that was once neglected, volunteers spend their weekends building low-income houses. People who never believed they could afford their own homes are being granted mortgages, and given homebuyers' counseling.

Thanks to the work of MSDI partners, since 1998:

• 1414 families have been provided with new or improved housing

• 51 home loans/mortgages have been secured

• 464 individuals have received homebuyers' classes/counseling

Northeast Louisiana CDC Helps Low-Income Residents Find a Way Home (9/1/2004)
Monroe, LA - Northeast Louisiana Delta Community Development Corporation (NELDCDC) recently completed construction of two single-family homes for low-income families in northeastern Louisiana. The new homeowners, Geneva Robinson and Gloria Robinson, completed the "First-Time Homebuyers" training class, received credit counseling and qualified for down payment and principal reduction assistance.
